George J Miller Award for Distinguished Service to Geographic Education


The 2012 George J Miller Award Committee invites you to assist in identifying worthy candidates for the highest honor given by the NCGE, the George J Miller Distinguished Service Award. This award is named for NCGE's visionary founder and longest serving editor of NCGE's flagship publication, The Journal of Geography. When considering nominations for this award, service will be defined broadly in order to encompass all conceivable ways of contributing to geographic education including:

  • Research
  • Papers and publications
  • Teaching
  • Grants
  • Service as a role model
  • Lobbying on behalf of geographic education
  • Significant contribution in the training of teachers
  • Development of curriculum materials
  • Service, where appropriate to the NCGE or other professional organizations
  • Administrative activities that involve service to geographic education
