NCGE serves as a clearinghouse for information about geography-related professional development opportunities for NCGE members and educators. This section of the Web site contains information about:

A Call for Authors/Editors

Highly-regarded reference book publisher ABC-CLIO is seeking qualified authors and editors to write/edit books in Geography/World Cultures subject area. Projects include:

-Resource Conflicts around the World: a 3-volume encyclopedia on the conflicts and issues surrounding land, water, and mineral/oil resources.

-Border Disputes: a 3-volume encyclopedia on territorial, positional, and functional disputes around the world.

-Geography of Chocolate and Vanilla: A 2-volume encyclopedia examining where chocolate and vanilla are grown, processed, distributed, and consumed.

-Ethnic Groups of the Americas and Ethnic Groups of North, East, and Central Asia: These volumes are part of our Ethnicity in Global Focus series. Each volume is an A-Z encyclopedia profiling major ethnic groups in each region.

In Focus series: Authors needed for volumes on Yemen, Israel, and the United Kingdom. Narrative chapters cover the geography, history, politics, economy, and culture of each country.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

University of Oregon Offers Graduate Level Online Course for Teachers in Summer 2010

Register now—or anytime before June 30—for the summer 2010 Preparing to Teach AP Human Geography class offered by the University of Oregon. This 100% online graduate level course is designed for high school and community college educators who are interested in teaching an AP Human Geography class. All assignments are submitted entirely online, and there are no residency requirements to complete this course.

 The total cost of this online class is $1,110 (plus books) with no additional out-of-state fees added.
