NCGE DONATIONS

At the end of the calendar year there is an opportunity for those of you who make charitable contributions to consider making a gift to the National Council for Geographic Education. The 2009 budget year was particularly difficult for NCGE. Our annual gift contributions from members usually total about $5,000, with most designated for the 21st Century Fund. The 21st Century Fund continues to be our largest endowment, but use of these funds has certain restrictions.
The Salvatore J. Natoli Fund is used for dissertation awards, and the E. Willard and Ruby S. Miller Fund for Research in Geographic Education is used to sponsor research projects. The Operating Fund is another gift designation I hope you will consider. Because these funds do not have restrictions, they can be used to enhance NCGE in various ways. In moments when I think BIG, I have “what if” thoughts. What if each member donated $100 in 2009? We would have about $130,000 in gifts with which to build membership services, develop a state-of-the-art Web site, perhaps print Perspective in hard copy, retain several creative freelance editors to help with the new World’s Greatest Geography Lessons product, and pursue additional projects. Even a gift of $50 would make a huge difference for NCGE, which will be 100 years old in 2015.

Please consider giving a gift to NCGE as we near the end of 2009.I can assure you that it will count in continuing our success as an organization. Donations can be submitted below or can be sent to the NCGE, 1710 Sixteenth St. N.W., Washington, DC 20009-3198.  To make a donation click here...
