Part 4: Spread the word.

After you have gained confidence and become expert in new standards-based geography, work with your colleagues in a community of learners. Lead them through the process you have just completed to uderstand what Geography for Life is all about and its implications for teaching and learning. Peer coaching and learning is what good staff development is all about. Take a leadership role to share your knowledge and skills with others. Teachers will implement changes that are modest and reasonable, so don't expect your co-teachers to make substantial and difficult alterations in their practice. Offer as much concrete support as you can and suggest incremental improvement.
